BALFOUR FLASK 2012  

8 members attended our first January 2nd playing of the Flask for 3 years. Gordon Currie won with a net 34 for the 9 holes, Sandy Green was second and the others were back a wee bit. 23/01/12

BALFOUR FLASK 2012  

It has become our custom over several years to attempt to play the Balfour Flask competition over the Christmas / New Year holiday period. Weather permitting, the date & time will be Monday 2^nd January 2012, 10:30 a.m. at Ladybank.

This year we plan to go again with 3 clubs and a putter over 9 holes, a fun size morning.

I look forward to seeing everyone then but in the meantime I offer

2011 Prizegiving Dance 

Auchtermuchty Golfing Society recently held their 2011 Prizegiving Dance in Auchtermuchty Bowling Club. Captain George Cook welcomed a large company of members and guests who enjoyed a lovely carvery meal provided and served by Scott Hospitality (Milnathort) which was followed by the Prizegiving and dancing to Streets Ahead.

2011 OUTING

The Auchtermuchty Golfing Society held their 2011 Outing at the Crail Golfing Society on Friday 3rd June. Due to the unfortunate absence of Captain George Cook ex-Captain Sandy Green welcomed the party of nineteen members and guests on a beautiful summer’s day by the Fife coast. The company played the morning round on Crail’s challenging Craighead course with the slightly easier Balcomie in the afternoon. Doug McGilvray’s excellent scratch 70 in the afternoon was the outstanding score of the day. Prize-winners were:  

Other prize-winners were: Philip Gatherer, Sandy Green, John Kerr, Derek Laing, Ken Lang, Roy Nicoll, Lindsay Petrie, Pete Smith, Bill Suttie & Stuart Milne.

As a result of having the Most Golf Played Roy Nicoll was awarded the much-coveted Yellow Jersey. 4/6/2011  

CAPTAINCY SWITCH

As a result of Captain Forbes Catto's current health problems - he has a condition known as myasthenia gravis, which is a condition that causes some muscles around your body to become weak and most commonly affects the muscles that control eye and eyelid movement, facial expression, chewing, swallowing and talking, and the arms and legs - he and Vice-Captain George Cook have effectively swapped places with immediate effect. George Cook has assumed the role of Captain and Forbes is hopeful that when his turn comes around in 2013 he will be well enough to resume the reins of the Society. We wish Forbes well in his recovery and thank George for stepping into the breach. 20/5/2011

·         Healthy despite apparent £588 loss

·         £600 deposit paid for Crail Outing - Effectively giving £1200 in the bank 

·         Subscriptions held at £40 for 2011 - due now, overdue April 30^th.  

·         Membership

·         1 new member, Graeme Bayne (Auchtermuchty).

·         Dick Greig is taking another year off on the Ladybank Medical List

·         Charlie Kenney is spending another year on the Ladybank Away List.  

·         Outing

·         June 3^rd to Crail Golf Club – cost still to be determined - I’ll let you know when I know!

·         Craighead course in the morning, Balcomie after lunch. Play will be in 4s.

·         Outing will revert to original format - 36 hole Scratch & Handicap, Stableford in the afternoon  

·         Knockout Competitions

·         Drop Dead Dates will apply this year. NO exceptions. No extensions.

·         Undecided ties will result in both parties being scratched.

·         Dave Balfour (knee op), Brian Imrie (business) & Alistair Masson (general health) are sitting out the Singles

·         Dave & Brian missing the Doubles too.  

·         Round Robin (reminder)

·         Each member plays each other in matchplay (handicap = ¾ difference) at any time during the season.

·         Please mark result on the card or your dilatory secretary will miss it  

·         Calendar

·         Hope to hold another Professional Day as per 2010 - details yet to be arranged. Watch for News.

·         First Sunday is March 27^th at 8:15am - Balfour Flask - 4 clubs + putter over 18 holes. 15/3/2011
